  1. Essentially rural in character retaining indigenous vegetation.
It should provide a lifestyle choice that is different from suburbia. People need to understand and appreciate that to live in this special environment requires a lifestyle that is adapted to rural living. Too often new residents want to change the rural character by introducing urban mod cons rather than adapting their way of life.
Strong planning regulations to ensure that new residents respect the rural/indigenous character to the area and are prepared for a lifestyle that differs from suburbia and the bright lights of the city.
Places like Yarra Glen should return the streets to native vegetation that existed 30 years ago rather than the plane trees and English oaks of today.
