Dear Yarra Valley community members please see message below from our emergency management team…
Community Helping Community
As you are aware, Yarra Ranges suffered significant impacts as a result of the 9 October Storm with the tragic loss of a local Millgrove resident. There were 36 homes destroyed as well as over a hundred more damaged properties. There is a huge amount of tree debris littered throughout the municipality.
To support residents in the Clean Up process Council has been advocating to the State Government for additional support through a community led clean up campaign.
The idea of the campaign is to empower community to support each other to clean up tree debris, particularly in light of the Yarra Ranges fire risk, while Council will continue to manage emergency tree works and tree waste pick ups for those resident requiring support.
- Contact details for any community groups that would like to be put on a support list on the website; and/or would like to attend the ‘Call to Action’ presentation on Wednesday 30 November from 6 – 7pm at the Lilydale Council Offices.
Please do not hesitate to contact myself if you have any questions, concerns or wish your agency to be more actively involved, please contact myself on 9294 6220, thank you.
