WHAT: Steels Creek Association – Special General Meeting
WHERE: Steels Creek Community Centre
WHEN: Sat 6 May from 4:30pm (followed by Pizza Night)
The Steels Creek Association was formed in 2012.
The Steels Creek Community Centre Committee (SCCCC) had its hands full at the time with recovery activities and building works at SCCC. A group of local Steels Creek Residents saw a need for an organisation within our community to seek funding to aid in community recovery post Black Saturday.
It was hoped such funding would aid the health and wellbeing and build connectedness and resilience within our community. SCA was successful in gaining funding from sources such as VBAF and FRRR. The funding has provided programs for community health and wellbeing classes, and capacity building training programs.
Funding has also been used to improve existing infrastructure and create new infrastructure within Steels Creek. Now in 2017, we have come to the end of our VBAF funding. The committee is in agreement that our organisation has fulfilled the purpose for which it was originally formed. We will be holding a Special General Meeting to pass a special resolution to seek voluntary cancellation of SCA with CAV (Consumer Affairs Victoria).
Maree Rothwell, Secretary of SCA, has also been sitting on the SCCC as a committee member to ensure a transition from two committees back to one.
We would like to assure members and residents that SCCCC is also able to apply for and receive grants and welcomes community members input, suggesting and assistance.
The General Meeting will be followed by a Community Pizza Evening. BYO drinks. RSVP are appreciated to assist with catering RSVP to Maree Rothwell; maree@rothwells.com.au Phone: 0414 278 649 PO Box 101 Yarra Glen
Please come along, have a chat about where to from here? SCCC members will also be present and we always welcome new committee members and community members who would like to be involved, even without joining the committee.
